LATEST NEWS

Hi Everyone,

Hope this finds you all keeping well in these strange times?

It's been great to see and speak with some of you during this lockdown period via the regular Zoom meetings, an opportunity in normal circumstances that would never have been possible. Communication has ramped up with ideas and creative thinking, which has seen social media interaction and coaches engaging and encouraging fitness participation through live video sessions. It has not gone unnoticed and the committee would like to thank you all for your continued increasing support.

ZOOM VIDEO ACCOUNT

KSRA have now bought an annual subscription service with Zoom, which will allow the county and any interested clubs/individuals to run online video calls for an unlimited duration. To this extent, there will be a pre AGM meeting on Wednesday 10th June open to all clubs to familiarise themselves with the functionality of Zoom, and also run a vote on the official winter team leagues positions/cup finals. An email invite with meeting ID will be sent to all county club chairs, coaches and team captains in due course from the information held, so now is the time to let us know of any contact detail updates.

NEW KSRA ROLE & WEBSITE

The committee are pleased to announce and welcome onboard Joe Magor, as Marketing Communications & IT Manager. It will be apparent to most of you his experience, knowledge and passion for the game will be invaluable in encompassing the further endeavours in our county. He has already been working hard behind the scenes to develop a new more socially interactive based website, which many of you will be previously accustomed and this will officially go live this Monday 1st June. So, sign up and start sharing and feeding back, as it will provide everyone a melting pot and definitive place for all the latest squash information across our county - www.kentsra.co.uk

COVID 19 UPDATE

Appreciate over the last week there has been a lot of speculation and discussion post government announcements, and a certain individuals exploit to Durham! However, it is essential to clarify KSRA are still following the government and ES guidelines, so this does mean no indoor participation and clubs are to remain closed. The ES centre of excellence is the only venue presently open for elite/professional players and this is for solo practice only with a coach, (outside the court), and a fully qualified medical doctor on site to undertake daily swabbing. Appreciate inherently this is frustrating, but let's not shoot ourselves in the foot, as from an insurance prespecive alone it could have serious ramifications. The finishing line is getting clearer to see and there is an exit route not too far in the distance future, but it will be based upon an adhered phased roll out. If in any doubt do check for the ES update here - https://www.englandsquash.com/news/england-squash-coronavirus-statement

Stewart Proctor, at Sundridge Park club has produced a fantastic in-depth health and safety with RAMS, (risk assesment), document that will prove an extremely useful template for every club to consider now in their strategy for a planned return to opening doors. It will be made available on the new website in case you needed another incentive!

So, for now stay calm, and carry on with the preparations and keeping safe. Squash will be back!

Best wishes,
Baz Hodson
